10 Craft Ideas To Do With Donkey Kong Coloring Pages

Donkey Kong remains a favorite game among children everywhere, and they love to color these funny characters.

Here are 10 fantastic, affordable, creative ways to use the finished pages and preserve their artwork.

1. Decorate a Light Plate

This hilarious craft is perfect if you have a light plate that you don’t mind your child decorating.

Once the Donkey Kong character is colored and cut out, it can be laminated onto the light plate, with the switch going to the section of the character’s famous red tie.

To get extra creative, use a tiny spot of Krazy glue and glue the tie to the switch to look like it’s flopping up and down when it’s turned on or off!

2. A Donkey Kong Dartboard

Your child needs a corkboard, invisible glue, and a coloring page for this craft.

Once the character is colored, the page should be trimmed and laminated to the corkboard. Next, it should be sealed with three coats of acrylic spray.

Finally, the youngster can decide on numerical values for the different parts of the Donkey Kong cutout and have fun seeing who can earn the most points in the dart game.

3. A Desktop Organizer That’s Barrels of Fun

The famous barrels from the Donkey Kong game lend themselves great to crafts. This one is simple and easy, and any child can complete it.

Several small craft barrels can be acquired for a few dollars which can be used to store pencils, pens, crayons, and markers.

The youngster can then color and cut out the Donkey Kong character and reinforce him with cardboard.

The cutout can then be placed between the two barrels, with a hand glued to each one, for an adorable desktop organizer.

4. Donkey Kong Shelving

For a cute craft to add to a wall, start by coloring the rungs of a ladder onto the sides of three shoe box lids.

Non-damaging wall putty can affix the three “shelves” to the wall in a step pattern similar to the games.

When Donkey Kong is colored and cut out, the bottom of the cutout can be glued to the inside rim of the middle shelf for a 3D version of the game on your child’s bedroom wall!

5. Donkey Kong Puppet

This amusing craft requires an elastic string, paper fasteners, two medium-size craft sticks, some thin cardboard, and a coloring page.

Once the character is colored and glued to thin cardboard, the arms and legs should be cut separately from the body and head.

These can then be combined with simple paper fasteners and elastic strings connected to both arms and legs.

The other end of the elastic string should be attached to a cross made from two craft sticks, and you have an instant Donkey Kong puppet.

6. Turn a Classroom Door Into a Masterpiece

Begin this enjoyable activity with a jumbo paper roll in orange, using it to cover the inside of the classroom’s door.

Have the youngsters work together to draw or paint ladder ledges like those in the game, going up in a zigzag pattern from the bottom to the top.

When the children have colored their characters and cut them from the pages, they can glue them to different areas of the ladder for a decked-out door!

7. Design a Donkey Kong Bank

If your child wants to begin saving money, Donkey Kong is the perfect character to create a bank.

Start with a generous size craft barrel and let your child paint it however he or she chooses.

Next, the child can color and cut out Donkey Kong characters from the coloring pages and use them like decals on the outer surface of the barrel.

An extra large craft pom-pom can be glued to the barrel’s lid as a funny handle for a unique, decorative bank.

8. Make Framable Art

Many people purchase Donkey Kong artwork, but why not let your youngster try some homemade art featuring this iconic theme?

The coloring page should be kept in its entirety when finished, and everyday craft supplies can be used to make it spectacular.

Toothpicks are perfect for making the ladders come to life. Brown puffy paint works great to embellish the barrels, and craft teeth can be added to create a giant smile.

When finished, it makes wonderful framable art.

9. A Donkey Kong-Themed Classroom

All kids love this easy classroom craft. Begin by giving each student a coloring page featuring one of the Donkey Kong characters.

Pages that have characters with arms reaching over their heads are perfect for this craft.

Once the characters are cut out, they can be threaded onto a long piece of yarn or string to look as if they are “hanging” or swinging.

The result is a wonderful classroom ornament the children will love.

10. A Homemade Game Points Log Book

If your child uses a paper notebook to keep track of video game points with friends, Donkey Kong pages are ideal.

A homemade logbook can be made with a coloring page for both the front and back covers, with lined paper in the middle.

A hole punch and paper fasteners can be used to create the book, and each player can have several pages dedicated to his or her scores.

Each child can select a Donkey Kong character to color, cut out, and glue to his or her individual page.
