10 Craft Ideas To Do With Maleficent Coloring Pages
Maleficent is that fascinating evil fairy that youngsters first meet in Sleeping Beauty.
If your child has some coloring pages that have piled up, here are some fun and inexpensive ways to use them.
1. Trick of the Eye
For this fun craft, have the youngster color an intricate Maleficent page.
However, rather than follow the classic pattern, have the child try to obscure Maleficent so that she is hard to make out by using different colors in a random pattern.
Then, using a glow-in-the-dark marker, have the youngster trace where Maleficent is in the picture, and when the lights are turned off, she will spring to life!
2. Design Innovative Wall Art
To make one-of-a-kind wall art, have the child fashion a “frame” simply by gluing or taping strips of paper together.
A plain piece of construction paper should be glued underneath the frame as the backdrop for the character.
When Maleficent is colored and cut out, she should be added to the page and embellished with black glitter, silver sequins, and a toothpick and craft gem for a scepter!
3. Create a Maleficent Headband
Maleficent is famous for her extravagant headdress, and it’s easy to turn it into a headband. Have the youngster trace and cut Maleficent’s horns from construction paper.
Next, use super glue to attach them to an ordinary plastic headband so that they stick straight up.
When cutting them out, leave a bit of extra paper at the bottom for this purpose.
Then, instead of leaving them black, laminate them with two Maleficent cutouts from the finished coloring pages for a one-of-a-kind headband!
4. Maleficent Mardi Gras Mask
Maleficent is the perfect character to use for this terrific Mardi Gras craft.
Have the youngsters color pages featuring Maleficent’s face and horns, cutting the artwork from the page when finished.
Then, the face should be glued to the center of a piece of purple poster board and decorated, Mardi Gras style.
The child can use lots of green and purple glitter, puffy paint, and scraps of lace or fabric to make a large “wreath” around the face for a terrific Mardi Gras mask decoration.
5. Make a Fancy Bow
This easy, affordable craft is perfect for any little girl and begins with some ordinary black construction paper.
The paper should be cut into strips, which can then be folded over several times to make a 3D bow. The middle should be flattened down to accommodate a cutout.
When Maleficent is colored, she should be glued to thin cardboard, cut out, and attached to the bow’s center with invisible glue or rubber cement.
The result is a fancy, exciting bow to display anywhere.
6. Maleficent Comes to Life
To make Maleficent coloring pages really come to life, the youngster only needs some empty dish detergent bottles and coloring pages.
When Maleficent characters are colored and cut out, they can be carefully glued to the front of the empty bottles. Invisible glue is best for this.
Then, black pipe cleaners can be attached with staples to the top of the cutouts to embellish Maleficent’s horns.
Black and gray tissue paper can be used to give depth to these cute “dolls,” and a fancy toothpick can be attached to the character’s hand as a scepter.
7. Maleficent Jewelry Box
This craft can be started with a child’s jewelry box from any discount store. The inside of the box should be lined with black construction paper.
Then, a Maleficent cutout from the coloring page should be used to laminate the lid, cutting a small slit for the knob or handle. Krazy glue is best to attach the cutout.
Another cutout should be glued to the inside of the lid so that when lifted, it looks like Maleficent was in two places at once!
Embellishments of any kind can be added to make the box extra fancy.
8. Maleficent’s Cauldron
Any old round plastic container, basket, or cook pot you are about to discard is ideal for this craft.
Using invisible glue, have the youngsters decorate the outside of the container with finished Maleficent coloring pages.
The inside should be filled with green or black Easter straw to make it look like a bubbling cauldron.
Another Maleficent page should be colored, and the character cut out and tucked into the cauldron’s center for a terrific Halloween ornament.
9. Maleficent Magic Wand
To begin this fun craft, give the youngster a long craft stick and a black pipe cleaner with which to create Maleficent’s horns at the top.
Then, when Maleficent is colored and cut out, she should be glued to the craft stick so that the pipe cleaner appears to be a continuation of the cutout.
This makes Maleficent look quite real. Then, black tissue paper should be used to embellish her dress, and red puffy paint to enhance her mouth.
The result is a magic wand that looks like Maleficent herself!
10. Make a Maleficent Centerpiece
To create this fun craft, have the youngsters fashion a square tower from ordinary construction paper. The top should be made to look like a castle.
Then, the children can cut windows and doors in a random pattern around the square and decorate the rest of the castle with cutouts from the Maleficent coloring pages.
When a battery-operated tea light is placed inside, the light will glow out the windows and doors for a unique, mysterious centerpiece.
