At first I wasn’t sure how I wanted to color this particular mandala. I briefly considered blues/greens, but I’ve done a lot of those lately, so I decided to go with the three basic colors and green. It turned out better than I thought it would! I call this one Star of Pharoah because it reminds me of something that I’d draw if I was recently looking at hieroglyphics.
After coloring this mandala, I made a pit stop at the local art supply store to pick up a few more markers. I absolutely love these markers (Prismacolor Premiere) because they don’t leave lines as long as the marker color is still wet while you’re coloring. If you let it dry and come back to color next to it with the same color, you’ll see the coloring path you took, but if it stays wet, the color is amazingly smooth — almost as smooth as a digital painting.
(Update: You can download a printable coloring page for this mandala now.)
