10 Craft Ideas To Do With Farm Animals Coloring Pages

Here are 10 affordable, fun, and creative craft ideas you can do with your completed coloring page!

10. Farm Animal Fact Booklets

If you’re leading a classroom or homeschooling your kids, you can help them learn independently by having them create farm animal fact booklets.

They can choose three or four of my farm animal pages, research facts about each animal, and write them on the page.

Then they’ll color in the picture, take a three-hole punch to the sides and bind the pages together.

Bonus points if they create a cover for their booklet!

9. Animals On The Farm Posters

For this craft, you will need multiple animals represented, so fire up your printer.

Your kids will pick which animals they want to place on their poster, then color them in and cut them out.

Using a piece of red or brown construction paper, they’ll draw and cut out a barn, then paste it onto a piece of green paper (green for the grass!).

Then they’ll also paste on the animals, creating a farmyard tableau.

8. Fluffy Animals

Pick an illustration featuring a fluffy farmyard animal – a chicken picture, perhaps, or even a cow.

You’re going to arm your kids with cotton balls and glue, which they’ll place wherever the animal is normally fluffy, filling in the lines.

This is a great activity for preschoolers and even younger ones, as it helps develop their pincer and other fine-motor skills.

7. Play Props

Print off three or four pages of different animals and have your kids color in just the figures (not the backgrounds).

They’ll then cut out the animals and trace their outline onto cardstock; then, they’ll cut out those outlines and paste the two pieces together.

Finally, they will paste a crafting or popsicle stick to the backs of the animal cut-outs.

They could also do a barn or a fence to add to the barnyard theme if they wanted.

6. Farm Animal Rocks

For this simple but cute craft, you’ll need Mod Podge and some smooth, roundish rocks.

You’ll likely want to resize the farm animals to fit on the rocks; you can do this by copying and pasting the illustration from its original format into a word processor.

In fact, you could fill a page with farm animals and then print them all at once. Then you’ll have your kids color them in and cut them out.

Next, you’ll Mod Podge the animal cut-outs onto the rocks, using several coats. You can also write a message on the rocks before sealing them with Mod Podge.

The Mod Podge makes the rocks weather resistant, which is perfect because you will then take the rocks with you the next time you walk somewhere.

Leave them at a park, on a trail, or at the beach – anywhere other people can find them and enjoy them!

5. Mobiles

A cute decoration that is perfect for a farm animal-themed birthday party or just a little one’s bedroom, you will need five or six pictures.

You’ll have your kids color in just the farm animals and cut them out (they can reinforce with cardstock, but it’s not totally necessary).

They’ll then poke or punch holes in the tops of the animal cut-outs and tie off different string lengths.

Then, they will attach the other end of the string to an embroidery hoop, a hanger, or even a nice-looking stick from outside (truly, you can personalize this!).

If you’re going with the embroidery hoop or stick around, you will also tie another piece of string to the object on either side to have something to hang it with.

4. Finger Puppets

Make finger puppets from my farm animal pictures by choosing figures with rounded or firm bottoms (not held aloft by four legs).

Some examples include Happy Baby Cow Eating Grass or Plump Baby Chicken coloring page.

Your kids will color in just the figures and then cut them out carefully; they can lob off the feet if there are any.

Next, they’ll poke two holes near the bottom of the animal and then, using scissors, work the holes to be big enough so that they can slip their fingers through.

3. Movable Farm Animals

For this craft, on the other hand, you will want animals where all their legs are prominent.

They’ll color them in and cut them out and then actually cut off the limbs (don’t worry, they’ll do “surgery” to reattach them in the next step!).

You’ll need a pack of fasteners; you’re going to overlap the bottom of the animal with the top of its legs and push a fastener through each one.

This way, the animal’s legs will move; you can then mount them on construction paper or leave them free to play with.

2. Magnets

You will need shrink sheets, magnets, and a hot glue gun to turn your fridge into a barnyard extravaganza.

You’ll print off the illustrations onto the shrink sheets and have your kids color them in with markers, then cut them out.

Bake them off per the instructions, then wait for them to cool. When they’re ready, you’ll hot glue the magnets to the backs.

1. Masks

Pick illustrations where the animal’s face is prominent (you might have to resize it to make it larger); have your kids color it in and cut it out.

You’ll poke holes on either side of the face and tie off pieces of string on each side.

To wear the mask, your kids will tie the ends of the string together behind their heads.
