6 Reasons to Do Penguin Coloring Pages + Craft Ideas
Keep reading to learn about the benefits of coloring these cute artic birds, fun facts about penguins, and crafts you can do with my coloring sheets!
1. A Way to Express Creativity
It’s important for kids to have a creative outlet! Painting, playing music, and similar hobbies are a great way for kids to build their creativity and have a way to show it.
So, if your kids enjoy arts and crafts, and they also love penguins, using our penguin-themed coloring sheets is a great activity where they can express their creativity using color.
Since penguins are only black and white, encourage your kids to use their own color palette, such as pinks and blues, to better allow them to express their individuality.
2. A Great Inside Day Pastime
Being forced to stay inside due to cold weather, snow, and rain can be frustrating for kids, especially if they’re quite energetic and prefer to spend their time outside.
However, coloring is a great way for your kids to channel their energy into something productive.
So, select some coloring pages you think they’ll enjoy coloring-in, such as my penguin sheets, and make the day a little more fun.
Further, if you’re a school teacher, providing these penguin coloring sheets for inside recess days is a great way to keep your students busy.
3. A Fun Activity for Family and Friends
Coloring is fun for all ages, even for parents! So, if your family is spending the day together and you’re searching for things to do with your young kids, grab a penguin sheet and a crayon!
Coloring with your kids is a great way to spend time together, as it’s a solitary activity that gives you an opportunity to talk about school, friends, or other things on their mind.
Further, providing coloring pages when your kids have friends over is a great way for them to bond over a similar hobby.
4. Helps Develop an Interest in Other Wildlife
One of the best things about themed coloring sheets is that they often pique an interest in their subject matter.
For instance, if your child is coloring my penguin sheets, they may develop a curiosity about penguins, where they come from, and what they do.
Using these coloring sheets to further your child’s knowledge of wildlife is a great way to make learning fun.
So, if your kids love our penguins, maybe consider doing a research project together (I’ll cover this further below) about this interesting bird.
5. An Opportunity to Learn More About Penguins
If your kids enjoy coloring in our penguin sheets, perhaps they’re curious to learn more about these birds! If so, I have compiled a list of kid-friendly facts your child may find interesting.
These facts are also a great resource for teachers to include in-class projects and assignments.
Where Do Penguins Live?
Penguins primarily live in Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands. They can also be found in the Galápagos Islands, New Zealand, and South Africa.
What Are Penguins?
Penguins are aquatic birds that can’t fly. Instead of wings, penguins have flippers. While they can’t fly, they are fantastic swimmers, being able to swim up to 15mph.
How Long Do Penguins Live?
On average, penguins live for 15-20 years, though some may live longer or shorter.
How Do Penguins Sound?
Similarly to humans, each penguin has its own unique voice and call. Scientists believe this is how penguins locate their mate.
6. Crafts and Activities With Penguin Coloring Sheets
If you’re trying to come up with fun art projects for your kids or students, there is a lot you can do with these free penguin coloring pages. Here are some fun projects you can try!
Decorate Gifts
If your kid has a party or special occasion coming up, and they’d like to buy the host a gift, they can add a personal touch by using their leftover penguin coloring sheets as decorations!
They can use their penguin sheets by pasting them onto gift bags and boxes, or using the sheets as wrapping paper.
Create a Penguin Storyboard
This is a great project for students to present in class; after downloading and printing our penguin coloring sheets, have your students select their favorite picture to color in.
Using poster board or a large sheet of craft paper, fold to create a crease, and paste the penguin coloring sheet on one side of the crease.
On the other side, leave it blank or paste a sheet of line-ruled paper. On this side of the board, have your students write a story based on the penguin sheet they selected.
Make it extra educational by having your students include at least one real fact about penguins in their story. You can use the facts listed above or do research as a class.
