10 Craft Ideas To Do With Shoe Coloring Pages

Shoes are more than just something your youngster won’t put away. They’re great items to base a craft around!

Try these inexpensive shoe-themed crafts to make from finished coloring pages.

1. Ballerina Shoe Art

Do you have a ballerina in your family? Have her finish a ballerina shoe coloring page and use invisible glue to attach it to thick cardboard, leaving about an inch of extra cardboard at the bottom.

Embellish the shoe with lots of glitter or craft gems to make it super-fancy. Let your youngster decorate it with initials using puffy paint as well.

Fold the extra inch of cardboard under the cutout and tape it to an ordinary coaster from a discount store to use as a base for this adorable “shoe statue.”

2. The Old Woman in the Shoe

All kids love the nursery rhyme about the old woman who lived in a shoe, so why not turn it into a fun craft?

Let the youngster choose the shoe he or she thinks will be the most fun to color, and when finished, cut it out and trace it onto a plain, white piece of paper.

Staple one side together so that it can open like a card.

On the inside, have the child draw all those children from the famous rhyme!

3. Shoe-Themed Organizers

Lots of people use empty shoe boxes to organize things, so if you are one of them, get fancy and make those boxes decorative items as well.

Have the youngster color as many shoes as needed and cut them out. You can both have fun gluing them to the sides of the shoe boxes.

Write the items in the box on the tip of each shoe cutout. To make it even more decorative, spray the boxes with different colors before you begin!

4. Make Fancy Framable Art

If your youngster wants something different to hang on a bedroom wall, a fancy high-heeled shoe is just the thing.

When finished, the coloring page should be left intact and embellished with craft gems, pom-poms, glitter, and metallic paint.

The work should be sealed in glassine and framed in an inexpensive picture frame from a discount store.

Hang it in your child’s room to make the wall sparkle.

5. Color by Number

This is a great classroom craft to play in pairs. Print two identical coloring pages for each child and staple them back-to-back.

Have the students color one and then turn the blank one into a color-by-number page based on the initial artwork.

Each pair of children can then swap pages and, following the color-by-number patterns, see if they can make it look exactly like the other child’s.

This takes a little bit of determination since all children color a bit differently, even when using the same shades. The fun is seeing who can get their page to match the best.

6. A Hilarious Three-Legged Race

For this comical craft, let each child color the shoe of their choice and glue the page to stiff cardboard.

The shoe should then be cut out and affixed to the bottom of a yardstick, old cane, or even a piece of a branch found outdoors.

This is the child’s “third leg,” and these funny contraptions can be used to have three-legged races in the playground!

7. Make an Adorable Graduation Certificate

When it’s time for a new grade, help your youngster make a fun graduation certificate.

Let the child color a shoe–or two–cut it out and glue it diagonally to a piece of cardstock.

At the top, write, “Stepping into X Grade.” Have the youngster add his or her name, the year, the teacher’s name, or anything else to make the certificate look nice.

Frame it in a row of pom-poms and hang it on the refrigerator. 

8. Decorate a Step Ladder

If you have an old boring stepladder in your kitchen, let your youngster decorate it with some shoe coloring pages.

Once they are colored and cut out, they can be glued to both the top and the underside of the steps with wood glue.

It might be fun to wrap one around the handle as well. Make sure to seal the artwork with acrylic spray and add sand to ensure the surface stays non-slip!

9. Walking up the Walls

If something is driving your youngster crazy lately, let the child vent by saying he or she is “walking up the walls.”

Have the youngster color and cut out several shoes from various coloring pages, then seal the artwork with contact paper.

Using non-damaging wall putty, these can be placed on the child’s bedroom wall in a pattern that makes it look like someone is indeed walking up the walls.

10. Learning Can Be Fun

This engaging classroom craft is both educational and fun.

Give each youngster a large piece of poster board, and let them color and cut out three or four different types of shoes.

These should be glued vertically to the left side of the poster. On the right side, the youngster can list why each type of shoe is worn.

The fun is seeing how many they can come up with!
